Biography

Since 2009 Dr. Martin Piringer  is a Head of Section Environmental Meteorology in the Division Customer Service at ZAMG, Austria.  Between 1993 – 2008 he served as a Deputy Head in the Department of Environmental Meteorology at ZAMG.

From 1980 -to 1993 he held a position as a Meteorologist at ZAMG

In 1980 he obtained a Doctoral degree (Dr. Phil.) in Meteorology and Physics from the University of Vienna, Austria. Thesis: “Description and preliminary results of a fine-mesh boundary layer model for vertical velocities in the Alps (in addition with a parameterized kinematic boundary condition)” (in German).

He is a member of several scientific and counselor organizations.

He is also an editor of  Special Issue of “Urban Climate” and Editor of the Open Access Journal “Advances in Science and Research” for Environmental Meteorology.

Between 2008 – 2017 he was a Co-Convenor of the Session for Environmental Meteorology at the yearly scientific conference of EMS European Meteorological Society
In 1982 – he was a member of different working groups for odour guidelines in Austria.  He has also published peer- reviewed papers regarding odour issues and modelling.
